And the Amount Is...

Good morning, everyone. Hope you are having a great holiday weekend so far. First off, I would like to say that I am sorry for not blogging in the last two weeks. It has been a hectic two weeks trying to get things ready for the fundraiser that I held at my church, and speaking at the church that I work at  for their fundraiser for me. I have to admit that I was a little nervous about what I was going to talk about, but hey, my family was there to support me. Thank God for family. I got through the talk just fine. The podium was there and I was able to support myself by holding onto it. The luncheon was great. We had spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert, and drink. As of right now, I was given a guesstimate of about $2400. Yes, can you believe it? I couldn't and I am still trying to comprehend the amount. And the total for my fundraiser was $1175. So all together, as a total, that would come to $3575. This really supersedes the total from last year's total...$2500. Way to go,...

Supporting a Great Cause

Good morning, everyone. I hope you all are doing great for it being a Monday morning. This past week has been a whirlwind for me. It is getting closer and closer to my fundraisers and still in the process of getting things together for these events. They both are in two weeks. I will be having both on the same day. That's just how things fell into place. These fundraisers will be on Sunday, May 18. The first one (a spaghetti luncheon) will be from 12:00 until 2:00 pm while the second one (a fundraiser benefit) will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. The first fundraiser will be at First United Methodist Church in Dallas, NC. This is the church that I have worked for for six years as of the 12th of May. I have been blessed to have such a great church as a work place. The congregation and the pastor have been so great, and I hope to be here as long as the last secretary - 32 years. The meal that they have planned consists of spaghetti, salad, dessert, tea, and coffee. This sounds goo...

What Gets Me....

Good morning, everyone. Hope you all are having a great weekend so far. I know I am. Right now, I am hoping that the dialysis center will call me to ask if I would like to come in early today. This is the norm for me on Saturdays. Now, last week, they called me in because they knew that I wanted to spend as much time with my daughter as possible. She was home from NC STATE, and luckily, we were able to have Easter on Saturday since she had to leave on Sunday to head back. What gets me, though, is that most of the dialysis patients try to get off of their dialysis procedures earlier than what they are scheduled for. For each 15 minutes that a patient gets off, that takes off a year of their lives. So, let's say that someone gets off 30 minutes early. That will be taking off two (2) years of their lives. It doesn't take long to add up. And this is why I am persistent about staying on my machine for the duration. Of course, it doesn't hurt that I enjoy my time at the cen...

A Week of Craziness

Good evening, everyone! I haven't blogged in a week, so I would like to say that I am sorry for that.It has really been a doozy of a week for me, though. I have been busy with dialysis on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. And this coming week will be another busy one with me getting things straightened out for my fundraiser in a month. The worst thing that happened to me this past week, though, happened on Wednesday afternoon as I was coming from work and going to get my van washed. Well, the thing is, I never did get to wash my van. If I know most of you, you are probably asking why. Okay, I will tell you... As I was driving down the road near Pizza Hut on Ozark, I was hit by another vehicle. It's okay. The mid-2000's black blazer hit my driver-side mirror and if it were to have hit me any harder before swerving back over, I would have been seriously wounded. Trust me on this when I say that God was with me at that time. But, the worse thing of all was when she left ...

Fundraisers, Fundraisers, & Such

Good morning, everyone. Yes, I know it's early, but hey, right now I have the time. Not much is going on right now other than trying to get ready for two different fundraisers next month. The first fundraiser is the one that my church and I are giving ---- a fundraiser benefit which includes a bake sale, a silent auction, a singing, and a raffle. And with the raffle, there will be something really nice given away if all goes according to plan. So, just wish us luck or try your hand at luck and get in touch with me. Now, the second fundraiser is actually the first one going on. This one was planned last, but will be on the same day as my benefit. They will be on Sunday, May 18. This luncheon will be from 12:00 until 2:00 pm. The other one will be from 4:00 until 7:00 or so. Therefore, my day will be very full. With everything going on in my fundraising life, there are other aspects of my life that are just as busy, if not more so. Right now, my father-in-law is not doing well...

The Dentist, Part 2

Good morning, everyone. I know it has been a month since I last blogged, and I am sorry for that. With all that has been going on lately, I am sad to say that I have been in a rut. Going forward with my life has been a strong suit for me even if I am toothless. Yep, I went in this past Wednesday thinking that I would get half of my top teeth out. And then I come out with no teeth at all. Dr. William Yeung has been my dental doctor this entire time and has changed my perception of some dentists. He didn't want me to have to wait two months to get the rest done, so since he had some time, he suggested that they get the rest out. And they did just that. While they did their thing, I layed back and listened to my daughter's music on her zune. What really made me feel better this week was the fact that once all of this is done, I should be approved and be put on the Kidney Transplant List. All in all, things are looking good on this end. I have also been approved for Charity Car...

Oh Boy, The Dentist!

Good morning, everyone. Hope you are doing better than me this morning. Yep, you've got it. I went to the dentist at the Women's Hospital yesterday morning. Oh. my. gosh! If I would have known what was to come, I don't know what I would have done instead of getting my teeth pulled at four different intervals of two weeks apart. Yesterday, we  (my mom and daughter, Ashleigh, came with me) got up to the hospital about an hour earlier than my appointment time which was for 10:30 a.m. I am telling all of you about this just in case, okay? So bear with me please. I got back to the dental clinic and they took me in around 10:15 a.m. to my little individual cubical. There are several of these rooms where several patients can be worked on at the same time by different doctors. How many there are of these doctors, I don't know. I don't really care how many there are of them, though. As long as I am getting this done by a good dentist, I don't care. They started wi...
